YOUR AGONY AUNTS PAGE

  • WE ARE WAITING TO HEAR FROM YOU! ANY QUERIES, COMPLAINTS OR INTERESTING STORIES ARE ALL WELCOME.

  • WRITE TO FIBRO AGONY P.O.BOX…8417 NOTTM NG3 5XZ

  • EMAIL:FIBRO.AGONY@HOTMAIL.CO.UK

  • We receive many enquiries and thought having your own letters page would be an excellent place to share experiences between members.

  • An example of some enquiries as follows:

  • A newly diagnosed male sufferer wants to know if there are many other male members attending our meetings.

  • UNCLE FIBRO replies

  • There are 27 male members at present which is app10%. This is partly because more women are inclined to join support groups. However there are plenty of gents attending each month, some sufferers, some carers and some helpers. So we are not totally out-numbered and you would be met and greeted at the door and be made very welcome.

  • P.S. Are there any gents out there interested in socialising outside of the monthly meetings? Write in and we’ll put you in touch with each other.

  • There is a group of ladies (Satellite group) who meet once a fortnight, who would welcome any fellow sufferers if they wish to join them.

  • Many enquiries asking about what benefits can be claimed if having to give up work due to Fibromyalgia.

  • AUNT MYALGIA replies

  • This is a very tricky area and as none of us are fully qualified in this area, it is always difficult to give good advice. Mostly, because individual cases vary.

  • However, in January there is a speaker from the Department of Works and Pensions, which should be very interesting and informative. Please do try and come to that meeting.

  • Also we hope to have more information available on the resources table soon, which will help to guide our members in the right direction.

  • P.S. Can any other fellow members or their carers offer any advice on the benefit system? Please write in and your response can be printed here.

  • We are looking forward to receiving your letters
