This is the website for the Nottingham & East Midlands Fibromyalgia Support Group, our meetings are held at the Nottingham City Hospital in the Sherwood Hall and our group is run by a team of volunteers  with the majority of them having fibromyalgia, we are all unpaid volunteers. The group is run for the benefit of the members and for all those living with fibromyalgia, their families and their carers.

Our website contains information about our group, what we do, our meetings and fibromyalgia information. Our aim is to fulfill our Mission Statement and to offer support, we live with and understand the condition, this enables us to help others who have fibromyalgia, welcome to our website.

MISSION STATEMENT

Our group aim to vanquish the feelings of anger, fear, frustration and confusion by offering support and information coupled with reassurance and encouragement of all sufferers to become positive and knowledgeable about their condition.          We will endeavour to remove the despair and isolation that many patients feel after being diagnosed with fibromyalgia and share with them how, together, we can overcome our concerns and take control of our future.

We are dedicated to ensuring that those suffering with fibromyalgia are able to access information, resources and help that will enable them to regain their confidence.

Our passion inspires us to take our cause forward by raising awareness of our condition and its associated difficulties, our mission is to generate interest in educational material for patients and professionals, supporting our Fibromyalgia All Party Parliamentary Group and working together with our colleagues from all fibromyalgia groups.

Our work is ongoing and proactive, we will continue until recognition of fibromyalgia by all professionals has been achieved and the disparity of care and treatment removed.

HOPE AWARD 2007

The Nottingham and East Midlands Fibromyalgia Support Group have won the 2007 Hope Award, To win this award from IBS Tales web-sites must be informative and very supportive of the medical condition they represent. The extract below from IBS Tales explains why this award is given.

The IBS Tales Hope Awards 2007 are currently being presented to websites that offer positive support and encouragement to anyone suffering from a chronic medical problem. In particular, the awards recognise websites that:
  • offer accurate information and resources for patients
  • encourage sufferers to search for new treatments and hope
  • refuse to accept inadequate medical advice and doctors who tell us to "learn to live with it"

The Nottingham and East midlands Fibromyalgia Support Group would like to thank IBS Tales for this award.
